Sapporo is the prefectural capital, the largest city in Hokkaido and the center of Hokkaido’s economy. Beer maker Sapporo Breweries Ltd. and dairy producer Megmilk Snow Brand Co. are among many companies with roots in Sapporo.

Tourism & Culture:

Sapporo is where many of Hokkaido’s gourmet dishes, such as crab and other seafood, can be found. The Sapporo Snow Festival, an annual event held every February, is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Hokkaido. Nippon Professional Baseball’s Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters are based in Sapporo.

Famous for:

Odori Park in central Sapporo is the venue of the Sapporo Snow Festival and hosts other events throughout the year. The Sapporo Clock Tower is a well-known landmark.
