Business & Industry:

Miyagi produces rice in its plains and grows greenhouse strawberries as well as Asian pears. The prefecture’s major seafood catches include squid, sardines and skipjack tuna. There is also a small manufacturing industry that produces such items as processed seafood and paper pulp.

Tourism & Culture:

Sendai City is home to many restaurants that serve a dish of beef tongue on rice and the nearby pine island of Matsushima is said to be picturesque. Various kinds of hot springs can be enjoyed in regions such as Furukawa and the south boasts the restored castle Shiroishi.

Famous for:

Sendai is famous as the home of the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles pro-baseball team. Fresh, delicious seafood. Bountiful nature.
