Industrial parks housing semiconductor and automotive manufacturers are being developed with financial aid from the city. Kitakyushu is also promoting robotics and entrepreneurs pursuing advanced technologies. In support of the film industry, the city film commission promotes locations for shoots.

Tourism & Culture:

Visitors to Moji port and the surrounding area will find the area’s atmosphere nostalgic and old-fashioned, as many of the buildings in the area were built about 100 years ago. Evening boat cruises provide views of glistening bayside factories.

Famous for:

The Kanmon Strait separates Kyushu and Honshu, but an undersea tunnel allows people to walk from Moji to Honshu in about 15 minutes.
