A bay area of Kurashiki City is an established industrial district, taking more than half of the prefecture’s shipments of manufactured goods in terms of value. Factories and companies in the steel, shipbuilding, petrochemical and auto industries are located in the Mizushima Marine Industrial District.

Take an evening cruise on the Seto Inland Sea and you will enjoy the back-lit silhouettes of small islands floating on the serene water. A boat trip on the Kurashiki River, along which historical white-walled houses and warehouses stand, will take you back 300 years.
